Choose Your Perfect Tree
We offer several varieties of trees here on our farm. Find the one that’s the best fit for you!
Cut-Your-Own
Cannan Fir
A farm favorite that grows well in New England soil, the Canaan Fir has dark, glossy dark green needles. This fragrant tree has thick, sturdy branches – excellent for displaying moderately heavy ornaments. These trees have excellent needle retention after they have been cut. When properly cared for in the home, a healthy fresh cut Canaan Fir tree can last at least five weeks.
Serbian Spruce
Uniquely vintage in appearance, the Serbian Spruce has long, dark green, spiky needles with a silvery underside, and thick, draping branches. Its branches are remarkably strong – excellent for displaying heavy ornaments. These trees do not have the best needle retention once cut; however, when properly cared for in the home, a healthy fresh cut Serbian Spruce tree will last about three to four weeks.
Pre-Cut
Balsam Fir
The needles of Balsam Fir are long, flat, and dark green in color with a pale green underside. This classic Christmas Tree is known for its strong fragrance that lasts throughout the season. Its branches are not as strong as those of the Canaan Fir tree, and are best for displaying lighter ornaments. These trees have moderate needle retention after they have been cut. When properly cared for in the home, a healthy fresh cut Balsam Fir tree can last about four to six weeks.
Fraser Fir
The Fraser Fir is our all time favorite Christmas Tree. The needles of Fraser Fir are a shiny, dark green and are arranged spirally around the stem. This fragrant tree has thick, sturdy branches – excellent for displaying moderately heavy ornaments. These trees have supreme (possibly the best) needle retention after they have been cut. When properly cared for in the home, a healthy fresh cut Fraser Fir tree can last at least five to six weeks.
Growing Our Trees: A Labor of Love
At Mistletoe Acres, growing Christmas trees is a year-round commitment. Our customers often ask, “How long does it take to grow a tree?” On average, a healthy tree grows about a foot each year, meaning a seven-foot tree takes about seven years to mature. But it’s not just about planting the trees – it’s about caring for them throughout the growing process.
Nursery
We start by planting saplings in large 10-gallon pots in our nursery. These young trees mature under the protection of mulch beds and sprinklers for about three years before being hand-transplanted into our larger fields during spring and fall.
Planting
Planting new trees requires hard work and precision. First, we remove old tree stumps and prepare the soil. We only plant when the weather conditions are favorable to ensure the trees have the best start.
Tree Care
Every tree is manually inspected and treated as needed for pests and disease. We also regularly water, fertilize, prune, and test our soil to ensure the trees are receiving the proper nutrients.
FAQs
What is considered appropriate attire when visiting your tree farm?
Due to the natural terrain of the landscape, we highly recommend wearing sneakers or hiking shoes while traversing the farm. Long pants are advisable, in addition to cold weather gear in the cooler months (picking your perfect tree can be a lengthy process)!

What types of payment do you accept at your farm?
We accept cash and all major credit cards. We do not accept checks as a form of payment.

Can we bring our dog to your farm?
While we do welcome furry friends, we ask that pets remain tightly leashed and by your side the entire time they are on the property. If your dog does not like children/adults, to be touched by strangers (with the exception of service dogs), other dogs, loud noises, vehicles, or a busy atmosphere, then we recommend leaving your dog at home. There is no need to stress your pet and risk an adverse interaction! We kindly ask that you do not leave your dog unattended in your vehicle while you shop for your tree. Finally, please bring your own disposal bags to remove pet waste from the fields and roadways.

Can we tag our tree ahead of time?
Unfortunately, we do not offer pre-tagging services.

Do we need to bring our own saw/can we bring a chainsaw?
For liability purposes, we only allow the use of manual handsaws on our farm. We will provide these for you, and we ask that you do not bring your own chainsaw.

Is there someone there who can cut the tree for us?
We always have a friendly staff member on hand to assist you in cutting your tree.

We noticed some trees have tags or ribbon on them; are these available to cut?
Yes! We mark trees throughout the year for various purposes (e.g. to indicate deer damage); however, these trees are still available for cutting.
